History
T&W Oil Company has a proud history that stretches through four generations of family roots. The company was founded by Jim Herring in 1926 as Citizens Oil Company. Herring’s granddaughter, Lynn Thompson, remembers the family patriarch fondly as a man who “never met a stranger.” Herring believed in delivering good customer service and taking care of employees. Herring’s son-in-law, James Poole, ran the business after World War II and continued its growth and success.

Lynn’s husband, Charles Thompson, took the reins from Poole and eventually changed the business name to T&W Oil Company. Lynn’s son-in-law, Larry Derby, serves as president of T&W Oil and manages the day-to-day operations of the business. For 83 years and counting, some things have never changed at T&W Oil Company and that’s a commitment to quality customer service, competitive pricing and support of community.

Giving back to the community has always been important at T&W Oil Company. We support numerous worthy causes, events and organizations in the markets that we serve.
